Training Team Assistants

From a young age Lily was always infatuated with horses. In 2017 she started taking lessons on a sweet Rocky Mountain gelding with a family friend, and it was there that she realized this was something she enjoyed doing. In early 2021 Lily started taking lessons and interning with Mackenzie Durbin, of Sálmur Icelandics. She instantly became fond of the breed, continuing to take lessons and further her knowledge of the Icelandic horse. In February of 2022, Lily got offered an opportunity to intern at Lettleiki Icelandics, and enthusiastically accepted. This is where she was introduced to the world of Dressage and Icelandic horse showing. She has traveled out of state to Indiana, Ohio and Iowa where she has assisted in grooming and learning the ropes with the trainers, Paetra Hennigar and Molly Stotts. In January of 2023, Lily began working as a training assistant where she continues to assist in lunging horses, grooming for the trainers, and furthering her knowledge of training. She competed in the 2022 and 2023 Triple Ice Championships / Triple World Ranking Shows at Lettleiki Icelandics and scored very well.

There is no place Kylee would rather be than at the barn. From a very young age her heart has been captivated by her love for horses. She began riding horses before the age of 5 while helping her dad on the farm. It didn’t take long for that to ignite her passion. In middle school she volunteered at Shamrock Farms working in the barn feeding and grooming. This is where she eventually became a junior camp counselor for a week long pony camp introducing younger children to the basics of care and introductory riding. She also volunteered at StormHaven Youth ranch where horses are often used in therapeutic sessions. Kylee is currently a senior at Henry County High School where she has chosen a path in agriculture. She is the FFA Treasurer and a proven leader in academics and extra curricular activities. When approached about interning at Lettleiki in August of 2021 she grasped the opportunity to work and learn all about the unique breed of Icelandic horses. This is where she was introduced to the world of showing. She has traveled out of state to Indiana, Ohio and Iowa where she has assisted in grooming and learning the ropes with Paetra and Molly. She continues to take lessons and engage in every opportunity to enhance her skill set. Shortly after interning it became apparent to Kylee she wanted to be on staff. In July of 2022 she joined Lettleiki as an assistant feeding, turning out horses, treating minor medical wounds, and various other tasks. In 2023 she moved to assisting the training team grooming and tacking horses for the trainers and doing basic groundwork and lunging as needed. With the encouragement of her mentors and trainers she showed in her first ever competition at the Spring 2022 USIHC Virtual Show and the 2022 Triple Ice Championships/Triple World Ranking Shows. She showed again in these competitions in 2023 and also competed in Iowa at Harmony Icelandics in October 2023 with the Lettleiki team. Kylee plans to pursue a career in the equine industry and will be attending Midway University in the Fall of 2024. She wants to continue learning and advancing her skills as much as possible and is excited for the future.
